It was time for Albert to finally reunite with all those he loved who left too soon, especially the love of his life, Theresa, his mother Ilona, his father Bela, and younger brother, Bela Jr. Albert died very peacefully at 89-years-old after sudden heart failure, and was extremely well cared for by the "earth angels" at Bethany Care in Cochrane, AB.
Born in Hungary, Albert later immigrated to Canada in 1956 to escape the Hungarian revolution, and was forever grateful he landed in Calgary! At the local Shangri-La dinner club, he met his future wife, Teri, and later adopted her only daughter, Marianna, and raised and loved her as his own.
Together in 1967, this small happy family thrived and enjoyed life mainly in the N.W. neighbourhood of Cambrian Heights, where Albert built their duplex after successfully learning the construction trade. Early on, he had been smart enough to join the English-speaking work crews to learn the language, much to his future benefit.
After a few more years of construction experience, Albert, along with several business partners, owned and operated several small successful drywall and stucco companies. As word of mouth spread, he earned a solid reputation as an old-school European stucco craftsman. Albert was a proud Canadian and was also a popular, very well-liked, long time member of Calgary's Hungarian community.
Albert loved the N.E. community of Bridgeland (our family lived there on and off for 60 years!), loved fishing, socializing with many friends, casino "penny" slots, and travelling, especially to Europe, and Lendava, Slovenia to visit Teri's family.
Finally Daddy, I can't thank you enough for the beautiful life and experiences you gave me and Mother! It was my honour and privilege to have been together to take care of each other, just as Teri had asked us to do. You're free and at peace now, so enjoy the passionate family reunion that I'm imagining!
Much love, your devoted daughter,
Marianna
