Alfred Whitby Briscoe

Alfred Whitby Briscoe, born on September 20, 1938, in Harristown, Ireland, passed peacefully after a brief illness on July 6, 2026, in Calgary, Alberta. Alfred lived a life marked by strength, independence, and a unique approach to the world that was unmistakably his own.

Alfred lived in both Ireland and England, where his journey into adulthood began. He was a member of the Royal Air Force in England, where he received his training as a Millwright—a skill that set the foundation for his distinguished career. His work in the Oil & Gas industry took him across many corners of the globe.

Alfred was born into a large family in the Irish countryside. He was one of 14 children of Christina and Alfred Briscoe. On January 24, 1977, seeking new horizons, he immigrated to Canada. His first days in Alberta were marked by the chill of a January winter, but Alfred’s resilience and determination allowed him to establish roots in his new home. Over the years, he resided in Red Deer, Alberta, Cawson, British Columbia, and most recently in Cochrane, Alberta, to be closer to his family.

Alfred very much believed in Spiritualism, Psychic phenomena, Faith healing and Homeopathy. His love of roses and being outside soaking up the sun were some of his favorite things.

Alfred is survived by his son Kevin, his daughter-in-law Shaena, his grandson Landon, and his granddaughter Samantha. He is also survived by many extended family members in the U.K.

As per his wishes, there will not be a funeral. Those who knew Alfred will remember his independent spirit and the determined manner in which he went about his life.
