Dale Edward Brownlee passed away on October 27, 2026, at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta, with his loving family by his side. He was born on March 21, 1948, in Hanover, Ontario.
Dale will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose steady presence and deep love for his family shaped the lives around him. For 51 years, he shared life with his beloved wife, Jane Brownlee, building a marriage marked by commitment, partnership, and care.
He spent an important part of his working life in Hanover, Ontario, where he operated and managed Todd's Sporting Goods. After moving west, he became involved with billiard sales in Calgary, and later ventured into security services at the Calgary Airport. He also worked as a security guard at various sites, including banks. Through each chapter of his career, Dale brought dedication and a dependable spirit to the work before him.
Outside of work, Dale found joy in the things he loved most. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, with a special love for grouse hunting and deer hunting with his daughter. He also looked forward to a good game of Crokinole and was always ready to cheer on his favorite teams, the Montreal Canadiens and the Calgary Flames. These simple pleasures reflected the warmth of a man who valued time shared, tradition, and the excitement of a game well played.
Nothing meant more to Dale than his family. He is survived by his wife, Jane Brownlee; his daughter, Katie Mock, and her husband, Robert Mock, of Cochrane, Alberta; and his cherished grandchildren, Riley, Remi, and Raya Mock. He was passionate about his grandkids and loved watching them at swimming and gymnastics, taking great pride in their lives and accomplishments. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Byers and brother-in-law Craig of Hanover, Ontario; his sister-in-law, Dawn Brownlee of Hanover, Ontario; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, who were also a big part of his life.
Dale was predeceased by his parents, Doug and Betty Brownlee, and by his brother, Donald Brownlee.
He leaves behind the memory of a life grounded in family, hard work, loyalty, and the enjoyment of time spent with those he loved. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
