Donna Airth, beloved wife of Ian Airth, passed away peacefully Tuesday August 26, 2025, at the age of 73 with her family by her side. Donna put up the fight of her life after being diagnosed with Cancer & COPD nearly three years ago. She beat all the odds and was able to be at home in comfort during this time.
Donna was born in Calgary and was raised on the family ranch north of Cochrane. Donna attended Westbrook School and graduated at Cochrane High School. During that time, she was very active in the Westbrook 4H club, the family ranch and annual bull sales. She made many lifetime friends in her early years. She then went on to be a Graduate at Olds College of Agriculture (1972) where she met her soon to be husband Ian Airth. Donna & Ian were married on June 10, 1972.
Donna spent her entire life working on the ranch. Showing cattle in the earlier years, bull sales, raising cattle and making hay. She had a passion for gardening, the greenhouse, a beautiful yard and good record keeping.
Through the years Donna spent a lot of time volunteering. She was a member of the Cochrane Lioness Club, volunteered regularly for the annual Canadian Cancer Society Daffodil campaign, a member of the Alberta & Canadian Herford associations, The Weedon Pioneer community association, and was a leader in the Westbrook 4H Club.
Donna was predeceased by her mother, Marion Powlesland (Clayton); father, Bert Powlesland; mother-in-law Dorthy Airth (Alberts) and father-in-law Jimmy Airth.
She is survived by her husband Ian; sons Howard (Jolene) and Clayton (Amy); stepdaughter Susan (Shannon); grandchildren: Keely, Justin, Michael, Andrew, Evan and McKinley. She also leaves behind her brother Larry (Jim), brother-in-law Bob, and many other cousins, and close family and friends.
A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Madden Community Center.
If friends so desire memorial tributes may be made to STARS or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
