Douglas Roy Rayburn, affectionately known as Doug, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, in Calgary, Alberta, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 20, 1958, in Calgary, Doug was a long-time resident of Cochrane, Alberta. He will be remembered for his unwavering kindness and selflessness, always placing the needs of others before his own.
Doug had a deep passion for sports and took great joy in BBQing, reveling in good food and the company of family and friends. His adventurous spirit drove him to explore numerous destinations, though he had a special fondness for Las Vegas, where many cherished memories were made.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Joyce, who stood by his side through all of life's journeys. Doug was a proud father to two daughters, Vanessa Rothwell (Tyler) of Calgary and Ashley Kells (Chandler) of Cochrane. His legacy will continue through his three grandchildren, Kaeden, Aariyah, and Aaliyah Rothwell, who brought him immense joy and laughter.
Doug's family also includes his siblings, Mark of Calgary and Diana Lebedeff (Jim) of Airdrie, who will cherish his memory forever. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Gary Rayburn, whose love and guidance shaped the man he became.
A celebration of Doug's incredible life will be held in the summertime. Details will be announced at a later date.
Doug leaves behind a lasting impact on all who knew him, and his generous spirit will forever be remembered in the hearts of his loved ones.
