Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas (Doug) Jay Weber on February 6, 2026, at the Arthur Child Cancer Center at the age of 62. Born and raised in Calgary, he settled in Cochrane in 2020 after living out of province for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Diana; his daughter, Sarah; his son, Jay (Carly) and their children Sophie and Landon; his mother, Carol; and his mother-in-law, Nancy Christensen. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Weber and his father-in-law, John Christensen.

Doug took pride in his role as a mechanic and supervisor in the elevator industry and was a proud member of Local 130.

He was the kind of man who believed in doing things the right way and fixing them himself. A true “let me fix it” kind of guy, he was a talented craftsman who loved building and working with his hands.

He found joy in hunting, fishing, cars, and going on many outdoor adventures. He loved working in his garage, staying busy, and unwinding with shows and movies at the end of a long day. Tall, big, and strong, Doug had a tough exterior that matched his resilience. He was hardworking, quick-witted, and could sweet-talk his way through just about anything. Beneath it all he was a man deeply loved by his family.

Doug’s strength, humour, and unwavering determination will be remembered always.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Doug's memory to the Alberta Conservation Association https://www.ab-conservation.com/donate/make-a-donation/.
