Lynn Theresa
Bindon
April 20, 1931 – April 4, 2026
Surrounded by love, Lynn Bindon passed away on April 4, 2026, at the age of 94, just shy of her 95th birthday.
Born on April 20, 1931, on her family’s Métis settlement near Batoche, Saskatchewan, Lynn was of Métis heritage and spoke only French until she began school. She was the eldest of ten children born to Augustine and Stanley Henry of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She was the last of her siblings, marking the end of an era for a deeply connected family whose grandchildren remain close.
In 1955, she married the love of her life, Doug, and together they raised two daughters, Linda and Terry and began a remarkable 70-year partnership filled with humour and unwavering support. They made their first home in Calgary, lived in Edmonton for a time, and eventually settled in Cochrane in 1972, where they spent 54 years building a lifetime of memories.
A talented and creative seamstress, Lynn could make just about anything—elaborate costumes, wedding dresses, special outfits, and even knitting Siwash sweaters or toques. If she could imagine it, she would create it.
Never afraid to try something new, Lynn worked as a waitress, a seamstress at GWG Jeans, a winery lab technician, an Avon lady, and manager of her family’s video store. She also volunteered as a hostess at the Cochrane Senior Centre. At age 50, she proudly earned her driver’s license—proof it’s never too late to try something new.
She loved cooking and was known for her “creative” ingredient substitutions—some more successful than others—but always made with love. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and the occasional surprise.
Lynn and Doug spent many happy years camping in Kananaskis in their motorhome with family and friends. She cherished her friendships, especially her “lunch ladies” group, and remained close with many of her nieces.
A highlight of her travels was visiting her daughter’s family living in Hawaii, where she loved the culture, music, weather, and especially Kailua Beach.
Family was at the heart of everything she did and nothing brought her more joy than being a Nana. She loved visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was a proud hockey grandma. Her son-in-law Bob was very dear to her and truly like a son.
She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Doug; her daughter Terry (Bob) Kwas; her grandchildren Ryan (Rachel Enzsol) Kwas, Jordan (Caron) Kwas, Taylor (Becca Post) Kwas, Cody (Shannon) Postlewaite, Derek Postlewaite, and Jamie (Travis) Flaro; and her great-grandchildren Sawyer, Lily, Carter, Clark, and Merit. She was predeceased by her daughter Linda Postlewaite and son-in-law Kerry Postlewaite. She leaves behind a family shaped by her love and care.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to those who attended to her with compassion, especially Dr. Jamala Maharaj for her exceptional care and attention.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. We have been deeply touched by the many stories shared—small, quiet acts of kindness Lynn showed others. In lieu of flowers or donations, please honour her memory by performing a simple act of kindness for someone, something small that may mean more than you know.
