It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Lantos, who passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Budapest, Hungary, Peter came to Canada with his family following the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. He earned his Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University and enjoyed a successful career in the investment industry before becoming a self-employed investor.
A devoted father, loving partner, and dedicated community volunteer, Peter is survived by his partner, Jen Foxcroft; his children, Julia, Marc, and Jordin; his brother, Gabor (Anitta); niece Andrea; nephew David; and many cherished friends.
Peter was passionate about giving back to his community through organizations including Seniors for Kids, Cochrane Immigrant Services, and the EMS Crisis Group and several others. He was especially proud to found the Cochrane Baby Boomers, bringing people together through friendship and shared activities.
An avid traveler, camper, hiker, and cyclist, Peter found his greatest joy in the mountains, rivers, and lakes of Alberta.
He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, quiet wisdom, and the many lives he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 19th between 2 and 4 at the Cochrane Legion. Everyone who knew him, are invited to share a favorite memory. Donations may be made to a local charity of your choice.
