Richard Barrie Benedictson

Richard Benedictson, 85 years old, passed away on November 5 at the Bethany Care Centre in Cochrane after a long battle with Parkinson Disease.

Richard was born in Manitoba in 1940 and later moved to Calgary. He was a Credit Manager for ATCO Energy for 35 years. Upon his retirement he took up his hobby of Cowboy history and collecting amassing a huge collection of Western comics, DVD’s etc. He was also a founding member of The Guns of the Golden West as well as the Cochrane Posse. During this time, Rich got involved in Fast Draw competition and becoming one of the Top Draw shooters in North America. He attended shoots throughout Canada and the US, winning and placing in most.

Rich was predeceased by his parents as well as his daughter who was a pediatrician in Calgary for many years.

As per Rich’s request there will not be a funeral or memorial service.
