Richard Gordon Heine

With heavy hearts and loving remembrance, our family is saddened to announce the passing of Richard Gordon Heine on September 15, 2026, in Airdrie, Alberta.

Richard is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 45 years, Cindy; his daughter, Erin (Dave); his son, Scott (Jordan); and his cherished granddaughters, Adley and Brynlee, the beloved daughters of Erin and Dave. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Sharon, and her children, Alex, Dylan, and Miles; his brother, Barton (Jane), and their children, Laura and Gordon; and his dear cousin, Jill and family. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Anne Heine, and by his beloved Uncle Fred.

Richard was born in Odessa, Texas, to Canadian parents and spent his early years moving throughout the United States as his father pursued a career as a geophysicist. In 1966, the family settled in Calgary, Alberta, where Richard would build the foundation for a remarkable life.

He attended Lord Beaverbrook High School, graduating in 1976. It was there that he met the love of his life, Cindy, beginning a partnership that would span five decades. Richard went on to attend the University of Calgary, earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and obtaining his Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in 1981.

Richard and Cindy were married in Calgary in May 1981 and began their life together. After several years living in Medicine Hat and Lethbridge, they put down roots in Airdrie in 1988, where they raised their two beloved children, Erin and Scott.

Richard joined Centron Group in 1994 and remained a dedicated member of the organization for 32 years. Throughout his distinguished career, he achieved numerous professional accomplishments, built lasting friendships, and regarded his colleagues as an extension of his family. Richard served as a Director at Large on the Calgary Construction Association Board for 8 years, was still serving as a trustee of the CCA Education Fund, was a member of APEGA, and was involved in countless Centron Cares Projects. Respected for his integrity, leadership, and professionalism, Richard cultivated a broad network of colleagues and friends whose lives were enriched by his generosity, mentorship, and genuine kindness.

An avid sports enthusiast, Richard could always be found cheering on his beloved Seattle Seahawks and the Calgary Flames.

Above all else, Richard was a devoted family man. His greatest pride and joy came from the time he spent with those he loved. He dedicated countless weekends to coaching, cheering from the sidelines, and creating lasting memories with his family. Whether it was a game, practice, recital, competition, or graduation, Richard was always there, offering unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement.

Family time was a priority, and Richard ensured weekends were often spent together enjoying activities he loved, including camping, skiing, hiking, and golfing. As their children grew older, Richard and Cindy embraced a shared passion for travel, exploring destinations around the world and collecting treasured mementos from their adventures. Although his travels were cut short far too soon, he was grateful for the opportunity to experience historic sites and ancient architectural wonders, which reflected his lifelong fascination with engineering and construction.

Eleven years ago, Richard embraced another of life's greatest blessings when he became a grandfather. His granddaughters, Adley and Brynlee, quickly became the light of his life and brought him immeasurable joy. He loved them deeply, cherished every moment spent with them, and took immense pride in watching them grow. His love, wisdom, unwavering support, and devotion to his family will remain his enduring legacy.

Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched through his kindness, generosity, friendship, and unwavering dedication to family.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held at the Cochrane Alliance Church (902 Glenbow Dr, Cochrane, AB T4C 1J2) on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 11:00 am. The service will be live-streamed through https://www.youtube.com/live/806b1zt-69o
