Robert John Owen

Robert John Owen, beloved father, stepfather, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 20, 1938, in Young, Saskatchewan, he was the youngest of twelve children born to Emma and William Owen.

Bob dedicated much of his professional life to the Oil & Gas industry, where he served as a Sales Representative for many years, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients alike. He graduated from Saskatoon Technical Collegiate Institute in 1956, achieving a Grade 12 Diploma that laid the foundation for a successful career.

Outside of his work life, Bob enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests that included camping, hunting, and fishing, primarily before his retirement. A sports enthusiast, he cherished watching hockey, curling, and football, with a special fondness for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Known for his mechanical skills, he had a remarkable talent for fixing almost anything, a skill that endeared him to many.

Bob leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter Michelle of Cochrane, AB, and his son Mike of Parksville, BC. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Colleen (Frank) from Rocky View County, AB, along with four step-grandchildren: Shauna (Ken) of Kelowna, Tyler (Lyndsay) of Kelowna, Kayla (Jason) of Rocky View County, and Kyle of Chestermere, as well as six great-grandchildren. Bob will be dearly missed by his brothers Howard (Joyce) of Airdrie and Dan (Glenda) of Calgary. Bob's memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his long-time partner, Susan Harvey, and his siblings, Gordon, Joyce, Gwen, Margaret, Shirley, Lucille, Violet, Maxine, and Clark.

Honouring Bob's wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada, the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of your choice.
