Teresa Elizabeth Briscoe, née Perry, passed away on October 13, 2026, in Okotoks, Alberta, at the age of 80. She was born on July 24, 1946, in Forres, Scotland, and her life would come to reflect both quiet determination and deep devotion to family, work, and the simple joys that make a home.

On January 24, 1977, Teresa immigrated from England, beginning a new chapter in Canada with courage and resolve. She became a Canadian citizen on September 12, 1980, a milestone that marked her lasting place in the country she made her home. In time, she pursued an education in psychiatric nursing, graduating on July 8, 1994. She went on to work for Alberta Health Services as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in Westlock, Alberta, for many years, offering care and service through a profession that called for compassion, steadiness, and strength.

Beyond her work, Teresa found happiness in the enduring comforts of everyday life. She loved gardening cooking, baking and reading, the pleasures that spoke to her thoughtful spirit and her appreciation for growth, beauty, and reflection.

To her grandchildren, she was affectionately known as Grama T or “Gangsta Granny,” a nickname she gained from reading a series of books to them when they were younger.

Teresa will be lovingly remembered by her son, Kevin Briscoe, and his wife, Shaena; by her grandchildren, Landon Briscoe and Samantha Briscoe; by her sister, Kath Thickett, and Kath’s husband, Les, of Cleethorpes, England; and by her niece, Bronia Ward, her husband, Jon, and their children, Alek and Samuel. By her nephew Kris Thickett, his wife Rachel and daughter Lauren. Surrounded in memory by those who knew and loved her, Teresa leaves behind numerous good friends and a family circle touched by her strength, humor, and care.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Perry and Marion Perry.

Teresa’s life was one of commitment, resilience, and care—for her patients, for her family, for her friends and for the world immediately around her. She will be remembered with affection and gratitude, and her memory will continue to live on in the stories shared by those who knew and loved her.
